The Haliburton County Landowners Association is a local chapter of the OLA serving the area of Haliburton County.
As the OLA, we are also a 100% volunteer organization. We are not afraid to step out of the shadows and take the lead when it comes to representing private property owners and educating them about their rights. In the coming months we will find out how the Municipality will react to the opposition we have put forth to their License of Occupation. We've proven beyond a doubt that North Shore Road is a forced road and not an Original Shore Road Allowance as they claim...the same situation is afoot with St. Peter's Road...and a number of other roads throughout Haliburton County. Time will tell....
What do you know about EP designations? While many of us truly believe in being the stewards of our lands...having one of our most important investments designated as ENVIRONMENTALLY PROTECTED could cost you thousands, possibly hundreds of thousands of dollars at the end of the day. Municipalities think that they have the right to arbitrarily designate properties as EP...quite simply put - they do not.
What are they? How important are they to my property? Do they still exist and are they still enforceable?
Many people don't know what they are! A Crown Land Patent (CLP) is the very first document when it comes to your property's root of title. It spells out limitations and reservations to your property as well as giving you protections and guidelines. Every property in Ontario has a CLP attached to it...if you want to see what yours contains, simply go to our downloads section and order yours today!!
